"I am honored to partner with people on their journey as they learn how to be better versions of themselves and find more peace in their lives."
People who grew up in a dysfunctional family or were raised by emotionally immature and unavailable caregivers can expect a range of damaging effects throughout their lifespan. Common experiences in adulthood include a poor sense of self, ineffective boundaries, chronic people-pleasing, overwhelming emotional experiences or outbursts, and toxic attachment patterns. Additionally, it can create symptoms of depression, anxiety, and ADHD. You may find yourself estranged from family members you wish you could be closer to, or contemplating how you can create a safer distance from overbearing parents. You may even find yourself in a spiritual identity crisis. If you relate to this, I can help!
I provide a safe place where you can be a unique individual, heal inner younger wounded parts of yourself, complete the stress response cycle, gain understanding of your innate value and worth, learn better boundary skills, differentiate from your family of origin, and enjoy healthy relationships in several areas of your life. In short, you can experience what its like to be an active and thriving participant in your own life!
My approach is client-centered, using talk therapy, mindfulness, psychoeducation, parts work, art therapy, and play therapy strategies. I am EMDR trained, and trauma- and IFS-informed. I am best described as empathic, perceptive, and non-judgmental, and I offer a healing space to talk about life's challenges, pursue your goals, and find more inner peace.
I completed my master’s degree at University of Phoenix CACREP accredited program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and am licensed as a clinical mental health counselor (CMHC). I have an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Seattle Pacific University. I have lived in Salt Lake since 2010 and I identify as a non-denominational Christian.
Halcyon Pax Counseling is a unique name. Halcyon means to reflect back on idyllic peaceful days. Pax is Latin for peace. I chose to name my practice Halcyon Pax Counseling because my goal is to help clients feel more peace as they reflect back on past experiences, and as they accomplish their counseling goals.
